Palm oil fractionation goes through the control of palm oil cooling and crystallization to make separation of palm oil into low melting point liquid (soft fat) and high melting solid (sterin). Fractionation of palm oil can be divided into three fractions: stearin (palmstearine), soft fat (palmolein) and middle section (palmmidfraction).

Palm oil automatic control dewaxing and degreasing process work under slowly stirring and cooling the oil to certain temperature in fixed time (technical security), and make waxy formed bigger crystallization, then separation exhalation, after filtering, it separates the fluid oil and solid fat.
After palm oil fractionation, palm oil will be clean after 5.5 hours in 0 degree Celsius, but it also can keep transparency and flowability in the refrigerator and improve the oil quality and appearance.

Working principle of palm oil fractionation:
Palm oil fractionation machine uses mechanical separation of liquid oil from solid fractions of certain oil and fats. It can greatly maximize the value of products.
Dry Palm Oil Fractionation Principle:
Dry palm oil fractionation is the most economical fractionation without adding any solvent. The oil in dissolved state is cooled slowly to a certain degree, passing through filtration to separate crystals and precipitate solid ester.
Dry palm oil fractionation includes three steps below:
Heat treatment
Form crystal nuclei and allow crystal growth and maturity by cooling method.
Filtration separates soft fat from solid.
One time fractionation is enough, but twice palm oil fractionation is in need for some relatively high demand industry of stearin, such as confectionery industry.

Palm Oil Cooling and crystallization instructions:

Cooling and crystallization are key palm oil fractionation process. Once crystallization successes, palm oil separation becomes easily. Therefore, different type of crystallization should have own cooling exchange surface, cooling system and mixture structure.Palm oil Cooling and crystallization condition determines the start of palm oil crystallization nuclei, the number of crystals and crystal size in palm oil fractionation process. Cooling efficiency and ordering ensure special crystal formation and filterability in palm oil fractionation.Under stirring and circulating water cooling state, according to set temperature difference between palm oil and cooling water, palm oil cooling time and control palm oil cooling process to form nuclei and slowly grow. When reaching the required temperature (depending on desired quality of soft fat obtained, typically 20 degrees Celsius), stop cooling.

Palm Oil Filtration Equipment


Palm Oil Filtration selection is extremely important for improving yield of liquid palm oil during palm oil fractionation process. Currently industrial filtration system contains drum filter, Florentine-type continuous belt vacuum filter, and thin film filter.

In recent decades, thin film filter has been widely used in palm oil fractionation since it can fractionate high yield of soft fat as high as 70% to 75%, and palm oil stearic is available in bigger hardness. The other two types of filters can separate lower yield of soft fat only 65%.
